Food Processing Sector


Thailand offers great opportunities in the food processing sector as domestic sales of processed
foods continue to rise. The country is considered to be one of the largest agricultural exporters
and the only net food exporter country in Asia. Thailand’s food processing industry is the most
developed in Southeast Asia. Major industries include the production of rice, processed and
frozen shrimp, sugar, processed poultry, canned tuna, confectionery and snack items, canned
pineapples, tapioca, and alcohol beverages. There are over 9,900 food and beverage
processing factories which consist of small, medium and large-scale plants.
